| For almost two years Shawnee Lake has performed with Jared Wilson & The Vibe and boy has it been fun! The band will however be moving in a new direction and Shawnee Lake will not be moving forward with us for now. This change will allow me to stretch out as a saxophonist and incorporate the Soprano Sax firmly in each set during performances. Please look forward to seeing the likes of Mark Strickland a great guitarist or a bassist to be named at our upcoming Quartet events. We wish Shawnee nothing but the best and who knows when our paths will cross again? In July 2010 a dear friend and excellent musician passed away, Gene Ludwig. Words can’t express how much Gene’s thunderous Organ playing and warm personality will be missed. I learned so much from Gene while playing with him for two years at Jackson’s Southpointe. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his beautiful wife Pattye Ludwig who was the love of Gene’s life. I am so happy that I got to record with Gene and was able to co-write (along with Howie Alexander) a tribute song (Gene’s On It) to one of the greatest Organ players to ever live Gene Ludwig! In February 2010 Jared Wilson purchased a Soprano Sax. It has been quite a transition for him from a Tenor Saxophonist to a multi-faceted Saxophonist. He inaugurated the Soprano on his 3/9/10 Backstage date. That evening he got some great advice from the Pittsburgh Great Eric DeFade (Saxophonist) about switching to a metal mouthpiece. This along with a trip to Hollis and Germann Music to have the horn tuned up made a significant difference in how the horn sounded when it was brought out on 3/13/10 for the Givner Wedding. Come out and see how Jared the now versatile saxophonist is incorporating both horns into his musical journey. Late in 2008 the talented songstress Shawnee Lake joined Jared Wilson & The Vibe. This energetic jazz and blues lyricist molds the music to the mood and can deliver familiar favorites in swing, ballad, blues or funk mode with no holds barred. Shawnee is the ultimate entertainer and fits perfectly into The Vibe. Shawnee has performed in Knoxville, Tennessee, and in Las Vegas. While vacationing in Casablanca, Morocco, she was offered a job by Joseph Pratt who owned a series of night clubs; she was offered a job in Austria while singing with a folk guitar player at Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy; and Nassau, Bahamas where she was offered a "gig" at the King of Knights club on Bay Street. You must come out and enjoy the energy that Shawnee brings to The Vibe! Her warm voice and playful antics gel perfectly with the mission of Jared Wilson & The Vibe music to make you feel good. Sandy Shore President of Smoothjazz.com reviews the CD This album has been so much fun that the ideas have begun to flow for the next CD. Several songs are being created as we speak. Review by TAXI of the song Vibe Vamp " Contemporary, smooth-funky jazz. Has a somewhat modern Stanley Turentine quality. The main riff has a very hooky, memorable quality…Hey Jared…Nice work here. You have a real full bodied tone and excellent intonation…Starting off with your hook is cool; you get right to the point and the groove/feel from the rhythm section is tight…Good sound overall and no one overplays or grandstands. Very tasty." Excellent instrumental jazz CD. Pick up a copy today! “Worry No More” by Jared Wilson and The Vibe is a collection of jazz instrumentals that are sure to pierce through the ears and into the mind and soul. Refreshingly soothing and relaxing, “Worry No More” does just that - takes the listener on a journey away from stresses of everyday life and into the utopia of jazz heaven. Led by the beautifully toned tenor sax, every song on this CD displays unrivaled musicianship and skillful composition. Great diversity is also apparent, from the upbeat sounds of “St. Thomas” to the masterpiece ballad dubbed “Gia.” Moreover, the remarkable piano-runs on songs like “Cold Duck” are too spectacular to not point out. Easy & Joyful Jazz! Feel good jazz is what we have here. That kind of laid back sound that wafts through the air on a Sunday morning… like the smell of a good brew of coffee and fresh baked goods, Jared Wilson’s jazz is strongly appealing. Easy, joyful jazz is the focus here on WORRY NO MORE. According to the artist, “Music is something that should make you feel good. It has the power to transform one’s mood from gloomy to feelings of jubilation.” A driven young talent from Pittsburgh, PA, Jared Wilson originally gravitated toward the trumpet before perusing the saxophone. But by the age of 13, he discovered the tenor sax and the rest, as they say, is history. Inspired by the greats: Grover Washington, Jr., Michael Brecker and Bob Mintzer... Jared Wilson & The Vibe have been laying down good feelings for more than a decade. The release of their debut CD WORRY NO MORE guarantees this musical offering will be received way outside of Pittsburgh as our global community of jazz enthusiasts discovers it here on SmoothJazz.com. In addition to the Vibe, the project features legendary organist Gene Ludwig throughout. The compositions range from straight-ahead jazz to funk to R&B. From the relaxing title track to a cool cover of “Cold Duck Time,” to the lovely and soulful ballad Jared wrote for his wife “Gia” with a similar feel to Coltrane’s “Naima,” to the SmoothJazz.com hit “Vibe Vamp,” WORRY NO MORE feels good from start to finish. ~SANDY SHORE Please ask your local Borders to carry our CD “Worry No More”.
